Joanne Louise Green, 64, of Manistee, Michigan passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. JB was born on March 4, 1951 in Allegan, Michigan, the daughter of James Floyd and Annie Lena (Luchene) Green. She was a resident of Manistee for the past eight years.
JB was a homemaker. She helped raise her brothers and sisters and was known to many as
‘Mom of the World’. She enjoyed doing laundry and ironing the fresh clean clothes. She was a lover to all animals and was known to take bags of pet toys to the animal shelter. She fed all kinds of wild animals, some so much that they were extremely overweight. She enjoyed her cats, and bought only the best pet food for them. She was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.
Joanne is survived by her brothers and sisters: Albert Smith of California, James Floyd Green, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, William Thomas Green of Lansing, Martha Edgar of Stockton, California, Grace Smith of Modesto California, Helen Green of Manistee, Violet Green of Mt. Pleasant, Donna Marie Willems of Ovedo, Florida and Mary Green-Mott of Detroit. An uncle, Bruce and Vera Hinmon of Mt. Pleasant, two aunts: Celia and Jim Oswabine of Marion and Violet Zeeryp, and also numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Belinda Green, both parents, and two sisters: Anna Roney and Laura Sumpter.
A service celebrating JB’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 3 p.m. from the Rowley Funeral Home with Pastor’s Bill and Lori Willis officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment will take place in Chippewa Township Cemetery.
